Jan 2, 2012 – The Buffalo Bills have fired George Edwards as defensive coordinator, head coach Chan Gailey confirmed. He will be replaced by Dave Wannstedt. This move shouldn’t come as a major surprise considering how porous the Bills defense has been this season.

Buffalo’s defense finished the year ranked 30th in the NFL in scoring. They routinely gave up a lot of points as the team lost eight of its last nine games. The Bills had a 21-point lead over the New England Patriots on Sunday but ended up losing 49-21.

SB Nation’s Buffalo Rumblings has GM Buddy Nix’s schedule over the next week for the end-of-season meetings:

To summarize: today, he’ll be meeting individually with players, who are cleaning out their lockers and taking a post-season break. Tomorrow, he’ll meet with head coach Chan Gailey and his coaching staff. Wednesday and Thursday will be dedicated to personnel meetings with his pro and college scouting staffs, and on Friday, he’ll sit down with team owner Ralph C. Wilson, Jr.

Apparently he didn’t need to wait to talk to Gailey about Edwards’ future.

97 Rock, The Edge Will No Longer Carry Bills Games

Scoring change takes away 1 of Tim Tebow’s 4…

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Upon further review, Tim Tebow has one fewer interception, and the Buffalo Bills lost a franchise record.

In a scoring change announced by the Bills on Wednesday, the third of Tebow’s four interceptions in a 40-14 loss last weekend is now being ruled a lost fumble.

It happened midway through the fourth quarter when Tebow had the ball knocked loose by linebacker Chris Kelsay. Linebacker Spencer Johnson caught the ball in midair and returned it 17 yards for a touchdown.

It came on Denver’s first play from scrimmage after Bills safety Jairus Byrd scored on a 37-yard interception return.

As a result, the Bills have returned four interceptions for TDs this season, which now equals a team record.

Kelsay picked up a sack to give him three in the game.

No Buffalo Bills selected for 2012 Pro Bowl

Posted at: 12/28/2011 4:40 AM

nullThe NFL has announced the fan-voted rosters for its annual Pro Bowl game, and for the second-straight year, no Buffalo Bills will be playing in the league’s all-star game in Hawaii.

Arguably the Buffalo Bills’ best chance at a Pro Bowl selection, running back Fred Jackson was ineligible for Pro Bowl voting due to season-ending injury. Jackson led the NFL in rushing yards for a number of weeks during the Bills’ hot start to the 2011-2012 season.

Overall, eight of the Bills’ starting players or potential starters have been lost to season-ending injury this season.

The New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers will each send eight players to the Pro Bowl, tying those teams for the most Pro Bowl selections. The Green Bay Packers and Baltimore Ravens will also each send seven players to the game.

The Pro Bowl is scheduled for January 29th, in Hawaii.
