Buffalo Bills DT Torell Troup placed on injured…

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Backup defensive tackle Torell Troup has become the latest Buffalo Bill to land on season-ending injured reserve.

Troup was placed on the list Wednesday as a result of a back problem that’s nagged the second-year player since training camp. The 2010 second-round draft pick out of Central Florida has missed five games this season, including a 28-24 loss at the New York Jets last weekend after his back locked up a day earlier.

Defensive end Lionel Dotson was promoted off the team’s practice squad as Buffalo (5-6) prepares to host Tennessee (6-5) on Sunday.

The Bills also signed linebacker Robert Eddins to their practice squad.

Troup becomes the ninth Bills’ regular to be placed on IR this season. It’s a group that includes starting defensive tackle Kyle Williams (foot).

Bills’ glaring errors lead to 4th straight loss

Whenever anyone mentions the Buffalo Bills being a young,
rebuilding team, they can point to Sunday’s 28-24 loss to the New
York Jets as Exhibit A.

The Bills (5-6) dropped their fourth straight game and, in the
process, probably bobbled away their playoff chances. They had
dropped passes, ridiculous penalties, a botched squib kick and
showed a general lack of maturity.

“One of the things today was a lack of discipline and we have
got to get that straightened out,” coach Chan Gailey said. “We need
that kind of emotion without those glaring errors.”

Despite nine penalties for 85 yards, including a 15-yard
excessive celebration call on receiver Stevie Johnson that led to
the poor kickoff by Dave Rayner, Buffalo was in position to win.
The Bills led 24-21 after Rayner’s 53-yard field goal with 9:46 to
go, then forced a three-and-out.

But New York got its third sack of Ryan Fitzpatrick, forced a
punt, then allowed the Jets to drive 82 yards in 12 plays for the
go-ahead score on Mark Sanchez’s career-high fourth TD pass of the
day, 16 yards to Santonio Holmes with 1:01 remaining.

Buffalo then drove to the New York 47 and Johnson got wide open
at around the 25, where he dropped a pass.

“I just didn’t react fast enough,” Johnson said. “I think it
could have been a touchdown. It’s tough.”

As tough as the result of his second-quarter TD celebration that
also cost the Bills.

Johnson caught a 5-yard TD pass, got up and mocked being shot in
the thigh, clearly making fun of Jets receiver Plaxico Burress, who
served 20 months in prison for shooting himself in the leg in a
nightclub in 2008 while he was with the Giants.

Johnson then ran to the left side of the end zone mocking the
“flight” celebration the Jets often use after scoring, and fell to
the ground, getting flagged 15 yards for excessive celebration on
the play that gave Buffalo a 14-7 lead.

That penalty was enforced on the kickoff and helped the Jets
score the tying touchdown.

“It was very stupid of me going through that,” Johnson said,
“and I feel like I cost our team the win by doing that. It was a
bad decision.”

After a 4-1 start, the Bills are spiraling, with two losses to
the Jets (6-5) and one to the Bengals hurting their playoff chances
in tiebreakers even if they turn it around.

“We had a good week of practices and there was a different
feeling in the locker room,” Fitzpatrick said. “More optimism,
spirit. Marcell (Dareus) made a nice little pep talk. The young
guys are realizing they are next man up, we can’t wait.

“That being said, it’s still a loss and it still hurts.”

Burress made a spectacular catch to set up the winning TD.
Facing a third-and-11 from the Bills 36, Burress made a brilliant
one-handed grab for 18 yards. Sanchez quickly ran a quarterback
sneak and then, on the next play, rolled out to his right and found
Holmes alone in the right corner of the end zone.

Fitzpatrick also threw behind Johnson in the end zone with 8
seconds left for what might have been a winning touchdown.

Sanchez wasn’t great, going 17 of 35 for 180 yards and an
interception, but came through with the game on the line. He also
threw two touchdown passes to Dustin Keller and another to Burress
as the Jets rebounded from a deflating loss to Tim Tebow and the
Denver Broncos 10 days ago.

Fitzpatrick was 26 of 39 for 264 yards and three touchdowns, but
couldn’t pull out one more in the end. Buffalo played without
several injured starters, including Fred Jackson and George
Wilson.

After Johnson’s penalty, Emanuel Cook recovered the botched
squib kick at Buffalo’s 36 after the ball hit him.

The Jets moved to the 14 when Buffalo’s Marcell Dareus was hit
for a 15-yard penalty for using his helmet to make contact with
Sanchez. Three plays later, Burress caught a 14-yard pass in the
back of the end zone. Burress bowed to the crowd and ran to the
stands and handed the ball to his son Elijah, as he always does
after scoring receptions.

Keller’s second touchdown catch of the game gave New York a
21-14 lead with 3:50 remaining in the third period. Keller caught a
pass at the 6, broke the tackle of Da’Norris Searcy and trudged
into the end zone.

After the Jets held the Bills to a three-and-out late in the
third quarter, Buffalo got the ball right back when cornerback
Antonio Cromartie _ who doesn’t normally return punts _ muffed a
fair catch and Leodis McKelvin recovered at New York’s 36. McKelvin
injured his ribs on the play and left the game.

Fitzpatrick went for a big play right away, throwing deep down
the right sideline to Brad Smith, who got a hand on it _ along with
Cromartie _ and tapped the ball up, grabbed it out of the air as
the defender fell and took off into the end zone for a 36-yard
touchdown that tied it at 21.

Buffalo took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on an 8-yard catch
by David Nelson, capping a 90-yard drive. The Bills had three
third-down conversions on the drive, which was also helped by a
15-yard facemask penalty on Brodney Pool on the second play.

But one play after nearly connecting with Holmes for a
touchdown, Sanchez pulled off a nice play-action fake and found a
wide-open Keller in the left corner to tie it 7-7.

What do you guys think about this.
